Mother’s Day at Borde Hill

Daffs 2011Borde Hill Garden is opening especially for Mother’s Day, 10am-6pm.

Treat mum to an early springtime walk before the Garden opens to the public on 1st April. Complete the day with lunch at Jeremy’s Restaurant or Café Elvira (lunch bookings required).

Make it even more special by booking a tour of Borde Hill’s camellia collection, taking place at 11am or 3pm.

Camellia tour tickets can be booked in advance at £10 per person, including Garden entry, or £5 for Friends. Click here for details.

Herald the start of our new season by joining camellia enthusiast, Nick Schroder, on a guided tour of the camellia collection at Borde Hill Garden.

Trace the history of these wonderful plants, brought to Europe across the high seas from China by the tea merchants of the 18th and early 19th Centuries. Discover how Colonel Stephenson R. Clarke of Borde Hill sponsored the plant hunters, and how he raised the famous Camellia x williamsii ‘Donation’ here in the 1930’s. The actual plants, still thriving today, will bring the tour to life as you explore this historic garden.

National Gardens Scheme Open Day – 90th Anniversary Celebrations

Celebrate the 90th anniversary of the National Gardens Scheme when we open in aid of charity.

Borde Hill is one of the original Gardens joining the NGS in 1927; join us as we celebrate this special 90 year association. You are even invited to come in 1920s dress!

Little Ritz Vintage tea will be on hand serving refreshments in the Garden.

Normal admission charges apply, with all net proceeds going to support the NGS.

Dogs on leads welcome.

Rose Celebration Week

Join us for a week of celebrations to mark the 21st Anniversary of Jay Robin’s Rose Garden, with its 750 David Austin roses which fill the air with a glorious fragrance.

The celebrations include weekday tours of the Elizabethan Mansion (usually closed to the public), plus half hour tours of the Rose Garden and surrounding borders.

There will also be specialist rose plants and gifts for sale, as well as several rose-themed artworks as part of the 2017 Sculpture Exhibition.

Art clubs are also being invited for painting classes.

House Tours

11am daily, Monday to Friday.

Book a tour of the beautiful Grade II listed Elizabethan Mansion house, usually closed to the public. Delve into its history dating from 1590 and gain an insight into the lives and ancestors of the current owners, Mr and Mrs Stephenson Clarke.

Rose Garden Tours

11am daily, Monday to Friday.

Combine a tour of the house with a fascinating guided walk around the Rose Garden and surrounding borders, led by Head Gardener, Andy Stevens.

All tours charged at £3.50 extra per person, per tour, including Friends of Borde Hill (advance booking required)

Tours last approximately 30 minutes enabling visitors to book a House and Garden tour in succession. House Tours are unsuitable for under 16’s. There are no concession tickets available for these tours. Tickets available per tour – 30, to be sold on a first come, first served basis.
