Caroline Holmes, Garden Media Guild member, Garden Historian, lecturer, broadcaster and author presents an inspirational talk on the history of the Edwardian Garden, as part of the Garden’s 125th anniversary celebrations.

The Edwardian Garden evokes memories of a golden afternoon, glimpsed in black and white photographs and nostalgic cottage paintings with architecture inspired by the Mediterranean. During the talk, Caroline will recall the drifting borders of Gertrude Jekyll and Italianate splendours of Harold Peto.

Caroline says: “The Edwardian Garden can be described as the original www for a glorious array of hardy and exotic plants for gardens, large and small, its extensive plant palette is one to celebrate not fear. The evocative history and contemporary setting of Borde Hill is both golden and delicious”

Ticket price includes refreshments on arrival served inside the Elizabethan House.

Following the talk Head Gardener, Andy Stevens will give a guided tour of the Garden.
