The Artist’s Garden – Summer Exhibition
Jul 6 – Sep 30 all-day

[vc_row][vc_column width=”2/3″][vc_single_image image=”11793″ img_size=”large”][vc_column_text]Borde Hill has been an inspiration for horticulturalists and artists for generations and this summer we are proud to continue this tradition by displaying the artistic response to the beauty of nature, countryside and gardens.

Visitors will be able to explore the historical Garden, renowned for its rare shrubs and champion trees, where they will discover approximately 40 works by established and up-and-coming artists inspired by both flora and fauna.

In addition to an enticing selection of garden sculptures, the exhibition, sponsored by local employer, 1st Central, will also include a number of paintings and smaller works displayed within the Garden shop and Green Tree Gallery. Uniting the work is their common fascination with the beauty of nature, the countryside and the feelings they evoke within us.

Exhibiting artists to be confirmed.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][vc_column width=”1/3″][vc_column_text]Admission included in standard entry price.

Sharp Shots Photography Workshop for kids (7-11) – Capturing Summer Sun
Aug 6 @ 10:30 am – 1:00 pm

[vc_row][vc_column width=”2/3″][vc_column_text]

Capturing Summer Sun – photography workshop for kids aged 7-11

This photography course will focus on capturing the summer sun through our camera lenses. Students will learn how their camera makes a photograph enabling them to take great close ups of Borde Hill’s amazing flowers and sculptures and sharp wildlife images of the bees and butterflies.

We will spend the majority of the class outdoors in the beautiful grounds capturing summer through our lenses together. We’ll find bright coloured flowers to photograph, learning how to blur our backgrounds, and take show-stopping action shots of one another and the birds & bugs in the park. Our students will put to use their new knowledge, using their camera settings and composition tips to create fun summer images to show off at home.

Capturing Summer Sun – photography workshop for teens aged 12-15

This course will focus on capturing the essence of summer. Students will learn how their aperture, shutter speed and iso affect their images and make great photos.

We will teach our students how to use their camera settings creatively, making wonderful images of the summer through their viewfinders. We will work with aperture to blur the backgrounds behind the summer blossoms and shutter speed to capture the wildlife in the gardens of Borde Hill. We’ll look at famous photographers images together, discussing composition and how we can apply the same ideas in our own photographs. The majority of the lesson outdoors using our new knowledge to take stunning colourful shots representing summer at its best!

Children's Outdoor Theatre: Mr Stink

[vc_row][vc_column][vc_empty_space height=”10px”][vc_column_text]David Walliams’ best-seller Mr Stink is coming to Borde Hill Garden with an open air theatre production staged by Heartbreak Productions.

Description:
You’re invited to celebrate Annabelle’s 10th birthday, hosted by everyone’s favourite MP candidate, Janet Crumb! (Almost) everyone is welcome… that is, everyone apart from Chloe’s particularly smelly new friend, Mr Stink.

One perfectly normal afternoon in an average English town two restless souls unite on a park bench – one of them the lonely 12 year old Chloe Crumb and the other an incredibly smelly homeless man. Oh, and let’s not forget his loyal dog, the Duchess. Chloe’s curiosity and kindness pave the way for this extraordinary and rewarding friendship that takes them to the heady heights of live television and Downing Street via a garden shed.

Pack a picnic, grab a chair and dress for the weather. Packed with fun, humour and a heart-warming message, this touching tale provides the perfect family entertainment.

Performed on the South Lawn against the backdrop of the Elizabethan Mansion House, Heartbreak Productions’ version of this popular children’s book is suitable for children aged 7+.

Refreshments will be available throughout the performance.

As part of our 2020 Wellbeing Programme, experience the tranquility of the Italian Garden in a unique way whilst contemplating what matters to you.

Enjoy exclusive private access to the Garden before it opens to the public for a special meditation, activity and nature morning to mark the International Day of Peace.

The magical grounds are the perfect place to stop, reflect and experience the peace we wish for ourselves, our families and community. At the end, participants will be given a small plant to take home; a living, growing reminder of the day. You will also be able to stay and enjoy the grounds.

This one and a half hour event will include meditation and other mindfulness based activities.

Please bring cushions to sit on.

Prior meditation experience is not required; beginners welcome.
