Explore the Garden on a guided Sensory Walk

Take sanctuary from today’s hectic world on a restful and restorative guided walk in the beautiful grounds of Borde Hill Garden.

Visiting gardens and spending time in the fresh air can enhance feelings of wellbeing whilst helping improve both physical and mental health. Whether living with sensory or physical impairment, our dementia-friendly walks provide an enjoyable experience for all.

This walk will take in the Garden’s colourful and highly scented Rose Garden, at its peak with 750 David Austin rose plants filling the air with fragrance. Visitors will be encouraged to get up close and to smell the different varieties, whist also being able to feel and touch the purple nepeta blooms surrounding the Rose Garden’s central pool, a favourite plant for buzzing bees and pollinating insects.

Take time out to relax and chat with like-minded people whilst reconnecting with nature through sight, smell and touch.[/vc_column_text][vc_column_text]Tickets:

The Garden is accessible to those with restricted mobility, whilst gentle slopes with hard surfaces allow wheelchair access. Light & Dark Workshop – how time spent outdoors improves sleep

Why do we go to sleep late and struggle to get up on time? Before we used artificial lights, our sleep cycles were guided by the light of the sun.

During this 2 hour workshop, you will be able to experience the tranquillity of a summer’s evening at Borde Hill during a fun and relaxing walk through the Garden.

You will also discover the benefits of natural light for our circadian rhythms and learn how to maximise your sensory experience of natural light to help you reset your body clock and permanently improve your sleep patterns.

The workshop is delivered by a qualified tutor from GardenLife Lab and includes both theory and practical elements. It will take place in the Garden Marquee and outside in the Garden. Suitable for beginners.

GardenLife Lab offers a range of courses and workshops with three core messages: Garden Biodiversity, Gardens & Wellbeing, and Emerging Scientists. Their vision is to encourage engagement with gardens to support wildlife conservation, improve health and wellbeing, and to inspire the next generation of scientists.

Ticket holders are welcome to come along earlier in the day to explore the Garden at leisure, prior to the workshop beginning at 5pm.

The Gardener’s Retreat Cafe will be open until 5.30pm with the Garden closing to the public at 6pm. Nature for Wellbeing – Meditation for Peace with Keren Ghitis

As part of our 2020 Wellbeing Programme, experience the tranquility of the Italian Garden in a unique way whilst contemplating what matters to you.

Enjoy exclusive private access to the Garden before it opens to the public for a special meditation, activity and nature morning to mark the International Day of Peace.

The magical grounds are the perfect place to stop, reflect and experience the peace we wish for ourselves, our families and community. At the end, participants will be given a small plant to take home; a living, growing reminder of the day. You will also be able to stay and enjoy the grounds.

This one and a half hour event will include meditation and other mindfulness based activities.

Please bring cushions to sit on.

Prior meditation experience is not required; beginners welcome.
