‘Little Buds’ is our family friendly Gardening Club, designed to get green-fingered little ones aged 4+ outdoors and enjoying nature in the beautiful grounds at Borde Hill. The club concept is simple – to inspire children and their families to learn more about gardening, grow your own (GYO) and how to look after wildlife. What could be more important than developing skills that will last a lifetime and promote the benefits of healthy eating and natural living?
Join Suzanne Mark from Treehoppers Forest Kindergarten at Borde Hill, and Paulina Hechenleitner, a horticulturist and plant scientist who trained at the Royal Botanic Gardens in Edinburgh and Kew, who will lead the group in a range of fun and engaging gardening and nature-themed activities. Children will be able to plant, play and get creative, and parents can take-home tips for their own garden.
The sessions include hands-on gardening, vegetable growing and inspiring craft activities that will vary according to the season. Children will be able to take home planted seeds, bulbs and their own crafts: experiences designed to inspire and educate.
Session 1 – SOW & GROW
The session will focus on sowing a quick-growing crop and how to look after it. We will discuss different containers to grow seeds, and how we can be more environmentally friendly and sustainable. We will also design and make our own watering can from a plastic milk bottle – perfect for small plants and small hands!
Children (4-10yrs): £9.50 (Non-Members), £8.00 (Members)
Ticket price includes FREE child admission to the Garden on that day (adults to pay)
Little Buds Gardening Club will take place at the Treehoppers site within Cuckoo Corner. Please follow the signs from the Garden entrance.
