Open Air Opera: Tosca

Opera Brava present Tosca by Puccini, performed with a chamber ensemble against the magical backdrop of the Elizabethan House.
A highlight of the summer, Britain’s leading outdoor touring company, Opera Brava, present Tosca by Puccini, performed with a chamber ensemble against the magical backdrop of the Elizabethan House.

Tosca is a must-see opera for both newcomers and aficionados, featuring beautiful and breathtaking arias as well as rousing musical interludes within Puccini’s magnificent score. Puccini’s composition flows seamlessly like the soundtrack to a cinematic masterpiece, effectively introducing and reinforcing dramatic events.

The production transports the audience to 1940s Rome, offering a poignant exploration of the tragedies that unfold within relationships during a world of conflict. Opera Brava’s rendition takes Puccini’s theatrical narrative, adding a profoundly moving twist to the final death scene.

Tosca stands out as one of the most lethal operas, where none of the central characters survive until the end, whether hero or villain. Unsurprisingly, it delivers a captivating melodramatic experience.

The performance will be sung in English.
